Fieldwood Energy supports sea turtle conservation along the coast of Campeche

On October 10, 2025, Fieldwood Energy employees from Mexico City and Ciudad del Carmen participated in a volunteering event in Isla Aguada, Campeche, as part of the 2025–2026 Sea Turtle Conservation Program, a Fieldwood initiative organized in partnership with the Universidad Autónoma del Carmen (UNACAR) through a donation and cooperation agreement.

The event opened with a briefing by university biologists, who presented key aspects of the turtles’ life cycle, nesting patterns, and conservation practices used to protect these endangered species. Participants then visited the nesting area to observe how nests are identified, monitored and safeguarded. The day concluded with the symbolic release of over 50 baby turtles into the Gulf of Mexico — an inspiring and emotional experience for participants, who witnessed the turtles’ first journey into the sea. The moment captured the essence of shared responsibility and highlighted Fieldwood’s commitment to environmental awareness and the protection of Mexico’s natural heritage.

The Sea turtle conservation program forms part of Fieldwood Energy’s Biodiversity Conservation Program. With a USD 149,000 donation made in June 2025, Fieldwood supports UNACAR’s research and fieldwork focused on protecting nesting areas, monitoring reproduction cycles and reinforcing conservation actions for marine turtle species.

The initiative focuses on three emblematic species — the green turtle (Chelonia mydas), the hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), and the Kemp’s ridley turtle (Lepidochelys kempii) — all classified as endangered under Mexican environmental legislation. Their presence highlights  the ecological importance and connectivity of these coastal and marine habitats, which are essential for species migration, genetic flow and the preservation of marine biodiversity.

Through this collaboration, Fieldwood Energy reinforces its role as a responsible operator committed to measurable environmental and social impact, fostering partnerships that strengthen biodiversity protection and inspire collective action for a sustainable future.
