We are committed to the safety and health of our employees and contractors, as well as to the protection of the environment and the development of the communities where we operate.

Our project integrates sustainability in all its operations, seeking to contribute responsibly and sustainably to its stakeholders, by promoting the socioeconomic development of the communities where it is present, protecting the safety, health and well-being of employees and contractors, and the protection and preservation of the environment. Through social and environmental risk assessments, the impacts derived from operations are detected. To mitigate possible negative impacts and enhance positive ones, various policies, processes, procedures and activities are implemented that contribute greater benefits to the communities.

The project is aligned with the international standards of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Equator Principles, as well as the international Sustainable Development goals of the UN and best industry practices such as the ones of IPIECA. Likewise, the company complies with national regulations and with the recommendations established in the resolutions issued by regulatory institutions. 

Human Rights

Committed to respecting human rights, we identify, address and monitor the potential human rights impacts of our operations and our value chain through due diligence processes.
To guide our practices in this matter, we base ourselves on the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the fundamental conventions of the International Labor Organization and the international standards of the International Finance Corporation.
Our efforts are mainly focused on three axes that have been detected as critical in the industry in which we operate:

Freedom of association, freedom of collective bargaining, non-discrimination and equal opportunities, decent and safe working conditions, adequate remuneration, prohibition of child labor and forced labor.

The aim is to avoid or mitigate the possible negative impact that may be had on the communities. There are attention and feedback mechanisms.

Safeguard at all times the physical integrity of workers, the community and organizational assets.

The company’s accountability system considers the needs and expectations of interest groups. In this sense, the company dedicates time and effort to promote and disseminate the culture of transparency through:

  • The fundamental principles that govern the procurement process at Fieldwood México are competitiveness, transparency, equity, and non-discrimination. The procurement of goods and services in our company is based on competition, the availability of all procurement information and the provision of equal opportunities to all potential suppliers/contractors.

Health, Safety and Environment

Safety

To guarantee a safe work environment, we have Safe Work Practices that provide the consolidation of our policies and procedures to mitigate the risks associated with operation, maintenance and modification activities to our facilities, as well as the handling of materials and substances that could affect the safety and health of personnel and/or the environment.​

All persons have the authority and responsibility to stop work when an unsafe condition or act is observed that may affect safety.

Focus on safety is essential to ensure the integrity of our employees, contractors and subcontractors in everything we do. To achieve this, we make safety an integral part of our lifestyle by applying our Safety, Health, Environment Management System. Instead of competing with other priorities, we incorporate security into the way we think, act, and work daily. By making wise decisions and working safely, we ensure the well-being of workers.

Health at work

Workers must be protected against occupational diseases, which is why we develop health risk studies that consider, at minimum, risks and/or damage from physical, chemical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic agents, among others.

In our commitment to ensure the effectiveness of health control measures, we prioritize monitoring and surveillance of the health of our employees, contractors and subcontractors. To achieve this, we have created a culture of prevention, implementing constant programs that seek to raise awareness about the importance of risk prevention at work.  

Environment

We are committed to conducting our operations in an environmentally responsible manner.  

Considerable efforts are devoted to assessing the risks and impacts of activities arising from the Ichalkil-Pokoch Project, measures are developed to minimize the resulting environmental impacts, and resources are allocated for their implementation and monitoring.

Our environmental commitment goes beyond the applicable legal regulations, complying with the highest internationally recognized sustainability standards, especially the social and environmental standards of the International Financial Corporation (IFC) and the Equator Principles.

Our standard is ZERO spills to the ground or any receiving body of water.

Our adequate wastewater management plan meets and goes beyond national regulations. Additionally, we promote a culture of proper water use through the development of various campaigns.

We have internal guidelines for the protection and conservation of biodiversity. We identify sensitive areas for the ecosystem, evaluate our possible environmental impact and determine actions to follow if necessary.

Concerned about the possible impacts of our activities and in compliance with the strictest performance standards in terms of environmental protection, we evaluate the impacts of noise that may affect wildlife, with the purpose of establishing action measures if necessary.

We evaluate the current state of key ecosystem services in order to establish the necessary protection and prevention measures.

Through comprehensive waste management plans, we promote a culture of reduction in generation and implement recycling and strict surveillance regarding its final disposal to avoid any harm to human health and the environment.

We evaluate and quantify emissions into the atmosphere, establish reduction goals and determine measures that allow us to comply with them.

We manage climate change risks under the international framework of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TFCD).

Society

We seek to contribute to the economic and social development of the communities where we are present through initiatives and activities that generate long-term value.

Local Supply and National Content

We are committed to strengthening our production chains at the national and local level. Our goal is to exceed the minimum percentage of national content established in the contract with the CNH.

Additionally, to encourage the development of jobs and local businesses, we have developed a supply strategy focused on small and medium-sized businesses in the towns where we work.

Citizen Mailbox

This mechanism allows the organization to identify problems or trends and respond in a timely manner, offering a formal and reliable channel in which people from the local community and the company can jointly seek solutions.

Through this channel, suggestions, queries, complaints, disagreements or specific requests for information that arise during the life of the project, emanating from the interested groups for which they are intended, are efficiently addressed.

A claim or complaint is an expression of dissatisfaction with the project or company, arising from some specific incident, damage or impact, whether perceived or real.

Responding to complaints is part of our commitment to communities. Fieldwood Mexico is open to questions, suggestions and opportunities for dialogue and improvement.

Complaint Mechanism Steps

Our grievance mechanisms are based on IPIECA best practices and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. These principles establish that such mechanisms must be legitimate, accessible, predictable, equitable, transparent, compatible with rights and a source of continuous learning.
